Voltage Generation in Piezoelectric Energy Harvesting with Magnet: FEA Simulation and Experimental Analysis

Energy harvesting devices are needed as an alternative to batteries it is costly power up wireless sensor network. However, the generated and operating bandwidth for typical energy harvester still compromised. Therefore, in this work, use of permanent magnet Piezoelectric Harvester (PEH) proposed increase bandwidth. A simulation study was conducted using COMSOL Multiphysics software observe effect mechanical tuning on voltage produced. It shows that PEH with oscillating magnetic field capable reaching peak 0.775 mW by 10%. Experimental setup also fabricated further validate observation at different polarities varying distances magnets. observed while achieved attractive mode smaller compared its counterpart, however, larger.
